Town ties up with health office, PhilHealth for public services
TO ENSURE the continued delivery of health services to indigent residents of Guagua, the Municipal Government is working hand in hand with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to provide "Botika sa Barangay" centers and health cards in the town.
Mayor Ricardo Rivera said in a recent meeting with DOH Director for Central Luzon Jovencio Ordona and PhilHealth vice president Tito Mendiola, it was agreed upon that all barangays will have a "Botika sa Barangay," and that the number of PhilHealth card holders for this year will be increased to 752 from 255 last year.
Rivera said the "Botika sa Barangay," a priority project of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the DOH, "is very much needed in the 31 barangays to provide affordable and accessible medicines to far-flung barangays," even as he claimed that he is prioritizing the provision of basic health care to his indigent constituents.
According to the mayor, the town is also ready to operate its sanitary landfill, with the closing of its dumpsite.
With the development, Rivera urged his constituents to follow proper waste disposal by segregating garbage and waste before they are collected for disposal. (CN)
