Town mayors honor Oca for World Mayor 2005 Award

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- For championing the "Lahing Kapampangan" by winning an international acclaimed award, the Pampanga Mayors League (PML) on Thursday presented a resolution conferring the highest singular and collective honor to City Mayor Oscar S. Rodriguez.

PML Resolution No. 59, Series of 2005 which was signed and approved by all the 20 municipal mayors, conferred the highest honor and recognition to Rodriguez for his selection as rank four among the top 10 Mayors of the World for 2005.

PML president Dennis G. Pineda said that Mayor Rodriguez achievement is truly an outstanding and unprecedented feat in the history of local governance in Pampanga.

Pineda said that the PML is proud for the "well-deserved and internationally-acclaimed award achieved by Rodriguez, saying this will serve as an inspiration to all Kapampangans in their lifetime.

"He (Rodriguez) has brought pride and prestige to the "Lahing Kapampangan" whose aspirations and achievement are worth emulating. Attorney Rodriguez championed from his struggling student days as son of a landless peasant and as a humble public servant proudly shares the rare feat and distinction of their self-made and highly deserving son on Pampanga," Pineda said.

Pineda said that the basis of the resolution was based on Rodriguez extra-ordinary and sterling qualification and achievement in private and public life.

Rodriguez ranked number four among the Top 10 mayors of the World chosen from 65 finalists all over the world--3 from Africa, 19 from America, 9 from Asia, 2 from Australia and 32 from Europe--after the counting of 87,100 well-channeled votes from around the world.

The resolution was certified by Sasmuan Mayor Catalina C. Bagasina, PML secretary general and PML assistant secretary general Efren S. Balngco. (CN)
