Folks hit digging in roadwork site By Reynaldo G. Navales
MABALACAT, Pampanga -- Scores of residents in Barangay Camachiles are complaining about the diggings at the construction site of the spur road, a portion of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Project.
The villagers described the excavations made by the project's electrical contractor as a hazard to people and farm animals passing the area.
Abelardo "Ading" Magsino, village chief of Camachiles, said the electrical contractor failed to place warning signs in the work area where electrical poles are being erected.
Magsino also assailed the alleged failure of the electrical contractor to coordinate with barangay officials on their ongoing cable installation.
"Sana mekipag-coordinate la kekaming manungkulan banta a-inform mila reng kekaming sasakupan malapit ketang gagawan dang dalan. They (electrical contractor) should have coordinated with us so that we were able to inform our constituents specially those near the construction site," Magsino said.
He said there are about five excavation holes, which were covered with grass.
"Parang trap yung mga hinukay nila, baka mamaya may mahulog pang tao dun," Magsino added.
