By Marna H. Dagumboy

CAMP OLIVAS -- Policemen here rescued 25 young women during simultaneous raids in at least seven "fun houses" in Sta. Rita Monday night, as part of their intensified campaign against beerhouses employing underage girls.

Zoilo Lachica Jr., regional chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) in Central Luzon, said the rescued minors whose ages range from 16 to 18 years old were taken to the social welfare department for debriefing and disposition.

Criminal cases are being readied for filing in court against owners of the videoke bars identified as Renato Santos, Erenesto Martin Canlas, Eugenio Mercado, Antonio Buan, Alfa Gomez, Marvin Pineda, and Joseph Enriquez.

The operations against viedoke bars employing minors are part of the priority project of the CIDU dubbed as "Oplan Sagip-Anghel," said Lachica.

He said all the rescued minors are either working as guest relations officers, waitresses, or hospitality girls. They were recruited by owners of the establishments from different places in Central Luzon and were promised decent jobs.

Lachica said among the funhouses that violated the child abuse law, prostitution, vagrancy, and indecent shows include JS Mila Videoke Refreshment, Labwad a Pangako, Bebe Ilog, and LM Videoke Bar, all located in Barangay San Pablo, Sta. Rita.

In a related development, three women, working as cybersex models were rescued by the same unit during raid at a cyberhouse in Angeles City on Friday.

Several sex toys, computers sets, and accessories were seized by police operatives in an apartment believed used by a cyber syndicate in their illegal activities.
