'Abducted' student rescued By Marna H. Dagumboy
FLORIDABLANCA -- Joint operatives of Mabalacat and this town on Sunday freed a student who was allegedly kidnapped last May 29 in Barangay Anon in the town.
Floridablanca Police Chief Audie Atienza identified the victim as Florence Kate Cabonicas Gatchalian of Sapang Biabas, Mabalacat. The suspect, on the other hand, was a certain Isagani Garcia Santomin, of Barangay Camachile also in the town.
Investigations revealed that a concerned citizen reported to the police on the whereabouts of the victim, which prompted combined members of the Floridablanca and Mabalacat police to proceed to Barangay Anon, which later led to the rescue of Gatchalian.
After her rescue, Gatchalian was turned over to the care of her mother.
The rescue team recovered a single motorcycle from the area, with license plate UQ-3083 that was allegedly used by Santomin as his getaway vehicle.
Police added that Santomin eluded arrest as he was able to conceal himself in the middle of a ricefield in the area.
