Romac receives environmental award
ANGELES CITY -- The Romac Group of Industries, the leader in chicken toll processing, received the prestigious "Blue Rating" from the Industrial Ecowatch Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 3 and the Environment Management Bureau (EMB) 3 last Wednesday evening at the Grand Palazzo Royale here.
EMB 3 Regional Director Lormelyn E. Claudio awarded the certificate of regional rating to Rene Romero, president and CEO of Romac Industries Inc., which operates the chicken toll processing plant in Barangay Del Rosario, City of San Fernando.
Claudio said under the EMB's industrial ecowatch program, companies like Romac were honored for achieving the "Blue Rating" for the period of 2005, in their commitment and partnership with the department to uphold environmental compliance.
"The EMB is very grateful and highly appreciates these companies' invaluable service and untiring support to the environment and for continuously upholding integrity and commitment to environmental compliance and performance," Claudio said.
For his part, Romero thanked the DENR and EMB for allowing the company to be partners with the environmental department, saying that environmental concerns and issues should be everyone's concern.
Romac's chicken toll processing plant was established in 1994 and is the exclusive toll processor of San Miguel Foods Inc. for Jollibee, Kentucky, McDonalds and Polo Loco, among others.
DENR Regional Director Regidor M. De Leon said the awarding ceremony was dubbed "Isang Pasasalamat... A Night of Recognition for Environmental Partners".
Others awardees include companies such as San Miguel Corporation, TIPCO, Mekeni, Pampanga's Best, CDO, Roel's, Coca Cola, Cosmos, BaseCo, Poong San, Robinsons, SM City and others.
Attending the awarding ceremonies were Undersecretaries Francisco Bravo, Teresita Castillo and Ramon J.P. Paje among other guests.
