Preparations start for Aldo Ning Kapampangan By Marna H. Dagumboy
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Pampanga Provincial Government has started lining up plans and activities for the upcoming 435th Aldo Ning Kapampangan or Pampanga Day 2006 this December.
Provincial administrator Fidel Arcenas, vice chairman of this year’s Aldo Ning Kapampangan, met with different designated heads of various committees at the Benigno Aquino Hall here last Monday to consolidate their respective preparations for the upcoming founding anniversary celebrations of Pampanga.
"Governor Mark T. Lapid is very determined to make the Aldo Ning Kapampangan celebrations this year truly worth remembering. For that reason, we are ironing out our plans ahead of time in an effort to assure the success of the much-awaited founding anniversary," Arcenas said.
Among the activities that were approved by the Aldo Ning Kapampangan 2006 Executive Committee include the Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awards (Moka) to be chaired by Arcenas, Mutya Ning Kapampangan, chaired by 3rd District Board Member Johnny ?JQ? Quiambao; Kapampangan Trade and Agro-Industrial Trade Fair, chaired by 4th District Board Member Nestor Tolentino; Recognition Day for Barangay Health Workers, chaired by provincial health officer Dr. Ernesto Santos; and Medical Mission, chaired by 2nd District Board Member Lilia Pineda.
Other activities are Photo Exhibit on Pampanga Products and Tourist Destination, Jobs Fair, Senior Citizens Day, Teachers’ Day, Tilbury Race and Tilapia Grill Festival. Meanwhile, the new set of activities for Pampanga Day 2006 includes Passport Serbilis Service, Day Care Workers Day, Awarding of Farmers and Fisherfolk Achievers and Invitational Off-Road Challenge.
"We are introducing additional activities this year in keeping up with the commitment of our beloved governor to further improve the annual celebrations of Aldo Ning Kapampangan. Therefore, we are encouraging all Kapampangans, from the public and private sectors alike, to support our provincial government in this endeavor," Arcenas appealed.
For his part, Governor Lapid said the Provincial Government is formulating plans and programs for Aldo Ning Kapampangan that are aimed to reminisce Pampanga’s glorious past and recognize its illustrious sons and daughters, including ordinary individuals, who have contributed immensely to the development of the province.
"Our observance of Pampanga Day is a perfect opportunity to look back at the gains that our beloved province has achieved in recent years. It is also a fitting occasion where we can showcase our rich cultural traditions and give due recognition to individuals for their exemplary achievements and valuable contributions to our great province," he explained.
The Executive Committee of Aldo Ning Kapampangan 2006 is composed of Senator Lito Lapid, honorary chairman; Governor Mark Lapid, chairman; Arcenas, vice chairman; members - Mayor Dennis Pineda, president of Pampanga Mayors’ League; Supt. Rosalinda Luna, schools division superintendent; and Jose Lazatin, vice chairman of Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan, Inc.
The other working committees and their respective chairpersons include Coordinating Committee, Arcenas; Ways and Means, Nida Manalad; Physical Arrangement, Engr. Juanito Macatuno; Invitation and Program, Wilma Galura; Information and Promotion and Souvenir Program, Minerva Arceo; Security, Superintendent Leonardo Espina; Jobs Fair, Luzvimin Galang; Photo Exhibit, Bessie Makabali; Senior Citizens/Day Care Workers Day, Board Member Tarcicio Halili, Recognition Day for Farmers and Fisherfolks, Dr. Mario Mangiliman.
