Agency vows creation of points of entry, exit of Mab't road

MABALACAT -- Caving in to popular demand, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) assured the Municipal Government here that points of ingress and egress will be put up along McArthur Highway portion of Mabalacat-Clark Spur Road.

Mabalacat Mayor Marino Morales said BCDA chairman Narciso Abaya called him up last Friday and assured him that points of entry and exit along McArthur Highway portion of Mabalacat-Clark Spur Road will be created provided that the funding for the construction of the Mabiga Exit will come from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In return, Morales said he will assist the BCDA and the DPWH in getting "right of way" along points of entry and exit of Barangay Mabiga.

The mayor has been fighting for the creation of the Mabiga Exit in anticipation of the development that will thrive in the area once the multimillion-peso Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway becomes operational. He also fought for the creation of the Dau Exit in the past in a bid to pump-prime the business area of Barangay Dau, which is considered as the business district of Mabalacat.

Morales also sought the help of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on the controversial Mabiga Exit and the President in turn had asked Edgardo Pamintuan, chairman of the Subic-Clark Area Development Council (Scad), to pursue the implementation of points of ingress and egress of Mabalacat-Clark Spur Road.

Arroyo assured that the vital link to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway project will be constructed in an effort to develop areas in Barangay Mabiga. (RGN)
