Town execs ask for additional cops

MINALIN -- Local officials here recently passed a resolution requesting additional workforce for the Philippine National Police (PNP) to be stationed here.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

The resolution passed by the Provincial Board (PB) states that the town had been a "hot item" in the news for the past few weeks because of an encounter between members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and some lawless elements believed to be members of the Rebolusyonaryong Hukbo ng Bayan (RHB).

The incident has alarmed the residents within the area, and local businessmen feared that similar incidents might affect the business atmosphere in the area, including the everyday lives of their constituents.

Time and again, officials here have been requesting augmentation of the local police to deter similar incidents, and the most recent malady validated the urgency to reinforce them in the locality. (RCG)
