Town organizes fogging operation By Raymond C. Garcia
APALIT -- Alarming reports of dengue cases in nearby towns prompted officials here to advocate safety measures in order to control the spread of the deadly disease in this town.
Fourth District Board Member Nestor Tolentino, through Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) Executive Director Andy Austria, organized fogging operations in various barangays here to inhibit the spread of the disease.
Austria said the fogging operations have started in Barangay San Vicente to Barangay Sampaga, and will be followed by similar operations in other barangays.
"We will concentrate on areas wherein there was a large a volume of stagnant water due to heavy rains brought about by earlier typhoons since there is a big possibility that there are mosquitoes carrying dengue in those areas," he said.
Austria recalled that there were also cases of dengue in San Simon town that prompted the mayor there to request for fogging operations in order to stop the continuous spread of the disease.
Tolentino expressed his gratitude to Governor Mark Lapid and Austria for giving solutions to the different cases of dengue in the province particular in this town.
For his part, Lapid said he had already given some instructions to Austria to check on the different areas in the province particularly those near the Pampanga River regarding cases of dengue.
