Cop, 5 others nabbed for drugs
By Albert B. Lacanlale

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Six persons, including a policeman, were arrested last Monday in Barangay San Agustin here for their alleged involvement in the illegal drugs use and trade.

Senior Inspector Ferdinand Germino, chief of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG), identified the suspects as Camp Crame-based policeman Misuari Sumaan, Rico Sioson, Danilo Dilao, Wowie Magtanggol, Ronnie Santiago and Arlinda David Salazar.

Germino said the six suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation at a house along St. John Street where Salazar worked as a caretaker.

He said the arrest was a result of a surveillance conducted by the police in the area. He said the raided house may have been used as safe house for drug pushing and pot sessions.

Recovered from the suspects are P70,000 worth of suspected shabu, two units of unregistered motorbikes, one cellular phone and several drug paraphernalia like improvised tooter, lighter, aluminum foil, cutter, plastic sachets and digital weighing scale.

Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, who was informed of the arrest, immediately directed the police to subject Sioson, a traffic enforcer under the City Government, to a drug test.

Rodriguez also wanted to determine if Sioson, who had been a traffic aide long before he assumed office at the City Hall, is indeed involved in the illegal drugs business. He said although Sioson will be given due process in the investigations, he could be dismissed from the service once proven guilty.
