2 nabbed for sale of hot cars in Porac
By Marna H. Dagumboy

PORAC -- Operatives from this town's police station collared two alleged carjackers on Wednesday in an entrapment operation in Barangay Sta. Cruz here.

In a belated report, Superintendent Walter Castillejos, town police chief, identified the arrested suspects as Francisco Mañalac, 43, married of Barangay Sinura also of this town and Alvin Mamangun alias Jonathan Ortega of Sto. Domingo, Angeles City.

Castillejos' men also recovered a Suzuki Samurai (SDA-219) from the duo's possession during the entrapment operation.

The complainant identified as one Orencio Martinez, of the said area, was allegedly victimized by the suspects selling him a carjacked vehicle.

Investigation revealed that on Wednesday with the cooperation of Martinez, Mañalac was collared while handing over a deed of sale and thereby collecting the balance for a Mitsubishi Adventure (XSD-867), which was sold and delivered to the latter.

Castillejos said the sold vehicle was confirmed by the office of the Traffic Management Group 3 (TMG3) to be in the list of stolen vehicles.

Prior to the incident, on July Mañalac and Mamangun went to Martinez's residence and pawned an Isuzu Crosswind (ZBL-124) and later sold it for P500,000 and delivered documents supposedly covering the vehicle.

Later the duo again pawned a Mitsubishi Adventure to Martinez for P250,000, covered by registration documents under the name of one John Laurel.

However, on September 18 a certain Charito Nolasco -to whom the Isuzu Crosswind was sold - informed Martinez that the vehicle was held by police since it was in the list of reported carjacked vehicles in the City of San Fernando police office.

This prompted Martinez to report the matter to Castillejos and immediately surrendered the Mitsubishi Adventure acquired from the suspects.

Castillejos said the two suspects were charged for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 6539 known as anti-carnapping law.
