Trade, city execs check market cheats

THE City Government of Angeles, in coordination with the trade department, seized defective weighing scales during their surprise inspection at the San Nicolas Public Market last September 15.

Roxas Sangalang, chief of the Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD), said seven defective weighing scales were confiscated from vendors while 14 vendors were advised to secure seal from the City Treasurer's Office (CTO).

He said 66 vendors have been allowed to use their weighing scales after they completed requirements.

Sangalang said the continuous operation to confiscate all defective weighing scales in the market is in line with Mayor Carmelo Lazatin's program to protect the consumers from abusive traders.

He vowed that monitoring and inspection of business activities at the San Nicolas Public Market and other business centers in the city will be conducted regularly.

Meanwhile, City Administrator Alberto Suller said that warning for punishment was given to those vendors whose weighing scales were confiscated.

Suller said if they continue to do such activity, the City Government would penalize them and file appropriate charges based on the city's existing ordinances and other unfair trade practice laws they violated. (DMF)
