'Milenyo' hampers Minalin athletic meet

MINALIN -- Due to bad weather condition brought about by typhoon "Milenyo," organizers and the local government officials decided to move this year's "Minalin District Athletic Meet (Mdam)."

The event aims to give time for the elementary students here to flex their muscles from their daily school academic routine. School officials here organized the Mdam for this year.

Although the opening ceremonies for the athletic event, was held last Thursday morning, organizers decided to send the students home due to the bad weather brought by the storm.

According to the meeting organizers, the event will resume as soon as the weather becomes stable. The activity is supposed to be slated to start last Thursday until Friday wherein sports activities are being lined up for the students to participate and enjoy.

Meanwhile, municipal officials here decided to cut short their office hours last Friday, according to Vice Mayor Edgardo Yambao.

With the theme "Move on Team Pampanga Upon the Good We Have Started," the activity will take place at the San Isidro Covered court, this town.

The participating schools are categorized in three groups: Region 1 is composed of Central School, Sta. Rita Elementary School and San Pedro Elementary School.

Region 2 will be made up of San Francisco Elementary School, Saplad Elementary School, Maniango Elementary School, Bulac Elementary School and Dawe Elementary School.

While Sto Domingo Elementary School, Sta. Maria Elementary School, Lourdes Elementary School and San Isidro Elementary School will comprise the Region 3.

Lolita Manalang, schools district supervisor, will spearhead the event while Rachelle Ladrillo, an elementary school teacher, will take of the opening ceremonies.

Mayor Edgardo Flores and Yambao were the guests of honor for the opening ceremonies.
