French lad pays P30T for rape

CAMP OLIVAS -- A French tourist is believed to have freed himself from raping a bargirl in the Fields Avenue entertainment district after allegedly paying the victim P30,000 in exchange for the dropping of rape charges against him.

This despite the rape charges filed against French tourist Eric Fort, 27, of Nancy, France by Angeles City Police Office (Acpo) Station 4 Chief Narvin Mangune.

The complainant accused Fort of raping her inside his hotel room last November 6.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, had allegedly received P30,000 offered by Fort in exchange for an affidavit of desistance indicating her lack of interest to pursue the case.

It was learned that the victim works as an entertainer in one of the girly bars in Fields Avenue, Barangay Balibago.

The case filed by Mangune was scheduled for preliminary investigation at the City Prosecutors Office (CPO) last Wednesday. However, the investigation reportedly did not push through as sources disclosed that Fort had bribed the victim so that the case would be settled amicably.

A holder of a passport issued by the Republic of France, Fort was temporarily staying at Room 8 Fiesta Garden Hotel, Jake Gonzales Boulevard, Barangay Malabanias in this city.

According to an employee of the hotel, Fort and his companions have checked out hastily after the case was settled.

A report said the victim was invited by Fort to accompany him to the hotel after downing several bottles of beer.

Police investigators here said they have considered the case closed following amicable settlement between Fort and Kaye. (MHD)
