Monday, November 20, 2006 Mayor to join 3rd district congressional race
STA. Ana Mayor Francisco "Doy" Gaddi has expressed his intention to continue to serve the people not just of his hometown but of the five municipalities of the third district of Pampanga.
Gaddi said he is very much willing to give the voting population of Arayat, Sta. Ana, Mexico, Bacolor and San Fernando City "an intelligent choice for the third district congressional race in the May 2007 elections."
With his battle cry," Isundu ing Serbisyu Diretsu karing Tau king Tersera Distritu," Gaddi is determined to slug it out with the other two contenders -- Board Member Dong Gonzales and former board member Dinan Labung.
It can be noted that Gonzales and Labung are both private and government contractors while Gaddi is a doctor by profession. With this, local residents said they now have "three Ds" in their list of congressional wannabes.
The mayor said that if given the chance to serve as congressman, he would file a bill that would promote the welfare and interest of the farmers through effective implementation of agricultural modernization.
He said that he would continue his advocacies for the empowerment and development of farmers' cooperatives, which he believes would uplift the living conditions of the farmers' families and beneficiaries.
He said as a doctor, he would give preference to the people in need of health care assistance by providing enough medical benefits for them.
With his vast experience as chief executive for almost nine years, coupled with his education, the people here are optimistic that he could better serve as the successor of Representative Reynaldo Aquino, who earlier announced his intention to make a comeback as mayor of the City of San Fernando and challenge Mayor Oscar Rodriguez in the May 2007 elections.
With Gaddi's end of term, the town is expected to be flooded with more mayoral candidates. This early, eight wannabes have already expressed their intent to run as local chief executive of this town, among them are Vice Mayor Mediatrix Nolasco, Recto Pasion, Cecilia Canlas, former mayor Monching Barro, Resty Montoya, Doming Dizon, Mirriam Lansangan and village chief Omeng Concepcion.
