Editorial: Suspension? Not!

AFTER the hullabaloo, it seems there is no suspension for Floridablanca Mayor Darwin Manalansan and seven other officials after all.

In an order from the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon, it was stated that the prayer for preventive suspension filed against the mayor, Vice Mayor Romeo "Jun" Lingad, and Councilors Restituto Tolentino, Eduardo Bansil, Carlos Mallari, Conrado Baluyut Jr., Renato Garcia and Winston Rivera is denied for lack of merit.

Thus, the administrative investigation of the instant case against the mayor, et al, may proceed without necessarily placing them under preventive suspension.

We're pretty sure the said officials are now in the high heavens, as they, after all, would continue to serve their constituents - contrary to what they initially feared.

They have been quiet for some time now, these officials, for reasons unknown. But they may just be trying to lie low after all the attention they received in light of the cases filed against them.

Now, they are in the limelight again, all smiles, after knowing that they will continue to be in office -- even if investigations are underway.

Good for them, and good for their constituents, don't you think?

Needless to say, this is definitely Point One for Manalansan's camp, Zero for the complainants.

Who's going to make the next move? Your guess, as they say, is as good as ours.

Cliché.

Pacman does it again

Manny did it again folks. And we are mighty glad of what he had again delivered to his countrymen in a silver platter -- pride.

One word, we know, but one that shows how we can overcome obstacles, how we can reach up high and tell everyone, "See? We're here. Where are you?"

Congratulations, Pacman. You have made us proud to be Filipinos, again.
