CLARK ECOZONE -- A world-class motor sports race track will soon be built inside the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ).

This was bared by Clark Development Corporation president Levy P. Laus who said the economic zone will become home to the world class racing events.

The CDC on Thursday formally forged an agreement with Kilton Motor Corporation, the country’s top race track developer, for the project.

Laus said the CSEZ will host various local and international motor sports activities once the race track is completed. The racing events are expected to draw millions of local and foreign tourists inside the ecozone.

KMC President Johnny Tan said his firm will infuse more than P28 million for the development of a 10-hectare international race track, which will be used for karting, drag and motorcycle race.

KMC owns and operates two race tracks in Cavite and Batangas, namely, Carmona Circuit Philippines with a total 1.02 kilometer length race track in Bangkal, Carmona, Cavite; and Batangas Racing Circuit which is a 2.8 kilometer length race track equipped with motor sports facilities and amenities such as drag racing, circuit racing, karting, motorcross, road racing and slalom.

Tan said both of the race tracks are accredited by the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) under the Federation Internationale De L’Automobile (FIA).

KMC said that a FIA-standard Clark race track will be constructed near the Clark Picnic Ground.

Firms like Motor sports and Leisure Products Division and Kart Plaza are also involved in the distribution of motor racing equipment, golf carts and other racing accessories.

KMC was established in 1986. It is also engaged in selling and distribution of diesel, gasoline and electric powered equipment in the Philippines. KMC has steadily developed its product lines to better served its growing clientele.

The race track will be named Clark International Speedway. Tan, who is a former professional motor sports racer, informed Laus that the race track will be completed in July next year.

Laus said that local and international motor sports competitions will be held at the race to promote Clark as Asia’s racing capital.

KMC is also among the firms that established kart tracks in the country?s famous theme parks: Boomland near the Cultural Center Complex in Pasay City; and Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna

The project is in line with CDC?s plan to develop Clark as the country’s famous sports-tourism destination that is expected to complement the transformation of the Clark airport into a logistics hub.
