Wednesday, November 29, 2006 Guv gives out patrol vehicles to Pampanga villages
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga Governor Mark Lapid announced on Tuesday that 367 patrol vehicles have already been distributed to various barangays of the province.
Lapid said 65 percent of the 568 barangays in the province already received their multi-cab vehicles that were derived from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (Pdaf) of his father, Senator Manuel "Lito" Lapid.
He said all the barangays of the province will eventually be awarded with service vehicles.
"In coordination with the Office of Senator Lapid, we are continuously distributing patrol vehicles to various barangays in an effort to enhance their mobility and capability to respond to emergency situations. In due time, all barangays of Pampanga will have their own service patrol," the governor said.
Provincial General Services Officer Lulu Alingcastre, who supervised the distribution of patrol vehicles, reported the municipalities and the quantity of units that were distributed as follows: Macabebe, 25; Masantol, 27; Porac, 18; Apalit, 12; Sasmuan, 12; Bacolor, 12; Sta. Ana, 14; Arayat, 12; Lubao, 12; San Fernando, 18; Magalang, 16; Minalin, 15; Guagua, 20; Sta. Rita, 10; Floridablanca, 13; Mabalacat, 16; San Simon, 14; San Luis, 16; Sto. Tomas, 7; Candaba, 24; Mexico, 16; and Angeles City, 33.
Alingcastre said the barangay leaders formally received the patrol vehicles during a series of turnover rites at the Lapids' residence in Poblacion, Porac recently.
For his part, Board Member Cesar Magat, Liga ng mga Barangay (LB) president in Pampanga, commended the Lapids for their unending commitment in addressing the various concerns of barangay officials.
"We, barangay officials, have found dependable partners in Senator Lapid and Governor Lapid, who are both responsive to the needs of the different barangays in the province. These barangay patrols will definitely be of big help," Magat said.
The governor appealed to barangay officials and residents alike to properly use and maintain the good condition of the patrol vehicles. (MHD)
