By Reynaldo G. Navales

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Employees of the Provincial Population Office (PPO) has been undergoing a refreshers' course on pre-marriage counseling at the Provincial Capitol.

PPO Chief Wilma Galura said her office implemented the program in a bid to enhance the capabilities of PPO personnel as resource speakers not only in pre-marriage counseling but also in symposium on other fields like drug prevention and education, population management, human ecological security, sexually transmitted diseases, gender and development and the ill effects of smoking.

The target audiences in these fields are secondary school students, women's groups, barangay leaders and local officials, according to Galura.

She said the PPO also scheduled two more seminars for the workers next month. "We are doing this for the professional growth of PPO personnel particularly the field workers," she said.

Galura also disclosed that the population office has been handling advocacies on drug abuse prevention and education and other subject matters for more than a decade now. She also lauded the Provincial Government and the different local government units (LGUs) in Pampanga for supporting the PPO in its projects.
