Power coop members, consumers to hold meeting
By Raymond C. Garcia

APALIT -- Members and consumers of the Pampanga Electric Cooperative (Pelco) 3 will sit together and discuss possible moves regarding the present situation of the cooperative.

Pelco-3 representative Fanny Salas said this will be the time for the members and consumers of the local power supplier to take their part in the current dilemma that the cooperative is undergoing.

Cooperative officials revealed that the people are faithfully informed regarding the meeting since they already posted streamers and notices in different places, particularly places that are under the Pelco-3.

The meeting was agreed upon in Minalin town recently, said Salas.

Pelco officer Rommel Calilong said the cooperative's lawyer reminded them to be prepared and to avoid some technicalities when they present their side to their consumers on February 4. He added that although the date of the assembly was moved, their venue stays the same at the Macabebe covered court near the town's parish church.

Earlier also, some of the Pampanga mayors support the employees' crusade in opposing the possible privatization of the Pelco-3.

Mayors Edgardo Flores of Minalin, Peter Flores of Masantol and Rodrigo Canlas of San Simon and Minalin Vice Mayor Edgardo Yambao spearheaded the local government officials in their respective municipalities as they made a pact with employees of cooperative that will be with them all the way.

On behalf of the cooperative, Pelco-3 officer-in-charge Emil Cortez aired his concerns on the issue saying the Pelco-3 board of directors (BOD) might be protecting someone as it pursues the go-signal for the Asiaphil Management Resources Incorporated (Amri) to take over the management of the cooperative.
