In a report submitted by CSD to CDC president and Chief Executive Officer Levy P. Laus, the number of workers in Clark as of end of last month is 50,184.

The number of workers came from 342 locators inside the freeport here that reported their employment levels to CDC.

The total number of registered business enterprises in Clark as of May 31 is 401, the CSD report stated.

The growing number of workers in Clark can be attributed to the increased confidence of the investors and locators on President Arroyos support to the developments inside the freeport here.

The Arroyo administration has vowed to increase the number of jobs before her term ends in June 2010.

Laus expressed elation on the new employment record, stating that Clark is steadily achieving the vision of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to make the Freeport as one of the employment capitals in the country today.

At the height of Americans stay in Clark, there were only about 22,000 direct and indirect jobs that were created by the presence of a military facility here.

The CSD report also showed that the number of Clark workers had increased by 7,592 in the last 12 months as there were only 42,592 workers in May 31, 2006.

CSD also informed Laus that the biggest contributor of jobs here are the various firms under the industrial and manufacturing sector which produces garments, electronics, furniture and other crafts.

This sector, combined with the firms under Business Process Outsourcing industry (call centers) and tourism-related operators account for 44,313 workers.

There are 107 firms in service-related businesses, 115 firms from the industrial sector such as electronics, furniture and crafts, manufacturing and garments, 28 on commercial, 21 in aviation, 16 in tourism, 31 in BPO/IT, eight in utility and four in housing.
