Wednesday, August 15, 2007 San Fernando heritage symposium set
IN PURSUIT of its commitment to preserve San Fernando City's heritage, the City Government on Tuesday announced the conduct of the CSF Heritage Symposium from August 15 to 16 at the Henson-Hizon House in Barangay Poblacion.
For its first day on Wednesday, the symposium will feature Jayson Paul Laxamana, a Sociology and Broadcast Communications student of the University of the Philippines (UP). He will be discussing "New Kapampangan Grammar: A Guide to Modern Kapampangan Writing."
Professor Anne Therese Mabanta-Fabian of UP Clark will present her research findings on "The Pampanga Lanterns: A Cultural Good in a Creative Industry" in the afternoon.
Architect Ed Castro of Arkicamp, a restoration architect, will give a two-part lecture and workshop on the basics of heritage conservation and its importance with the theme "Heritage: Looking forward, looking back" on Thursday.
The symposium coincides with the city's twin celebration of the 253rd founding anniversary of San Fernando and the 103rd anniversary of the transfer of capital title from Bacolor to San Fernando on August 16 and 15, respectively.
The lectures are open to the public but interested participants are requested to confirm their attendance at the City Tourism Office. For more information, call 9616640 or email citytourism@cityofsanfernando.gov.ph. (ABL)
