Sungkit gang strikes anew in San Fernando
By Raymond C. Garcia

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Members of the notorious Sungkit gang strikes again at the house of Sun.Star Pampanga chief photographer Chris Navarro at Villa Corazon Subdivision in Barangay San Agustin.

Navarro, a former president of the Pampanga Press Club and Camp Olivas Press Corps, said the still unidentified suspect or suspects stole his mother's bag containing assorted credit cards, cash, jewelry, cellular phone and other valuables.

"The suspect or suspects passed through an open window my mother's room," he said.

Navarro's wife, Catherine, is the sister of Marikina first district Representative Marcy Teodoro.

"We did not expect that they (robber/robbers) can barge into our house," she said.

According to her, she heard noises but was fast asleep, adding that she might have been "drugged" by the robbers.

It was not the first time residents in the subdivision have complained of being robbed. Just last month, the house of Joel Manalang, a neighbor of the Navarros, was also ransacked by alleged Sungkit gang members.

Other victims in the past few months include Ben Melo, Peng Sunga, and the Mendoza and Trono families.

Responding San Fernando policemen investigated the incident and found at the crime site finger and foot prints, as well as the window which was forced open using a steel flat bar.

Police theorized that the suspect might be a resident near the victim's house, as "the dogs did not even bark" during the robbery.

Homeowners in the subdivision feared that they might be the next victims, as robbery and burglary seem to be rampant in their area.

They appealed to the police and barangay officials to assign patrol and barangay tanods (watchmen) along the area to deter further robbery cases.
