Magalang vendor killed

MAGALANG - A 27-year-old buko juice vendor was shot dead Friday by still unidentified suspects in front of Magalang Public Market.

The victim was identified the fatality as Jesus dela Resma Canlas, single, and a resident of Barangay San Pablo 1st in this town.

Police investigators are now looking into a possibility that the slaying has something to do with illegal drug trade and that the victim may have been "salvaged."

Canlas is a suspected drug pusher in said village, police report have it.

Investigations revealed that at around 5 a.m. Friday, Canlas was shot him at close range while fixing grocery items in his sari sari store.

Police said Canlas sustained fatal gunshot wounds, which caused his instant death. The suspects were armed with .45 caliber pistol in killing Canlas.

Police theorized that the motive behind the death of Canlas is drug-related.

Canlas, police added, has pending case of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Investigators from the Magalang police are now conducting investigation to identify the perpetrators in the killing.
