CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) of this province recently finalized plan for its supplemental budget for this year.
Lucia R. Gutierrez, PDCC executive officer, said the council members with allotted funds from the supplemental budget presented their itemized work programs during a recent meeting at the provincial capitol.
Gutierrez said there is a need for council members to itemize the goods and supplies they are going to purchase with the corresponding amount for purposes of transparency.
Attorney Vivian Dabu, provincial administrator of Pampanga, announced that the provincial government has allotted P1 million from the supplemental budget for the desilting of Gugu Dike and other river channels in support of Mayor Romeo "Buddy" Dungca, Jr. and the people of Bacolor.
There are also appropriated funds for the capability building of the different barangays of various Municipal Disaster Coordinating Councils (MDCCs).
Mario Mangiliman, Provincial Agriculturist, said that for the rehabilitation of destroyed farms in support of affected farmers, the following will be purchased: bangus fingerlings, P1,000; tilapia fingerlings, P500,000; grafted mango and calamansi, P500,000, for a total of P2.5 million.
For rescue gears and equipment, the council plans to purchase high tension rope; waist harness; heavy duty body harness; carabiner; pulley (high capacity); rapel gloves (leather); life vest (double capacity); nylon tent (double); coleman jugs; scuba gear (face mask/pins); among other items with a total cost ofP324, 280.00
Livelihood programs to be provided to affected families would cost one million while the purchase of medicines for hog cholera is valued at P219,000.
The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Pampanga announced that only 25 percent of the rooms in every school shall be used as evacuation centers but all schools can be used as evacuation centers.
Edelita Mendoza of the National Food Authority (NFA) of Pampanga clarified that rice credit sales can only have 25 percent surcharge if not paid on the right time as specified under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between them and the concerned agency
Dr. Augusto Baluyut, provincial veterinarian, reported that the creation and training of Avian Flu Task Force in every municipality will be finished up to December this year.
