Saturday, November 10, 2007 Suspect in Vietnamese killing nabbed By Reynaldo G. Navales
ANGELES CITY -- Police authorities arrested Thursday the lone suspect in the killing of a Vietnamese national on November 1, 2007.
The suspect - Efren Abril Baring, 18, single, of Number 12-4 Forest Road, Carmenville Subdivision, Barangay Cutcut, this city - was arrested in Ormoc City at 3 p.m. Thursday by elements of the Station 4.
A murder case was filed before the City Prosecutor's Office against Baring for allegedly killing his brother-in-law identified as Dung Duy Tran.
Tran's wife, Maricel Baring Tran (suspect's older sister) filed the criminal complaint against the suspect who is now detained at the Angeles City District Jail.
But Baring said he was forced to harm Tran after the latter assaulted him physically.
The victim sustained a single stab wound on the chest, according to Doctor Nelson Ayson of the Saint Catherine Memorial Medical Center situated in Barangay Cutcut here.
"Sinakal po niya ako tapos nadapa ako. Ang ginawa ko po naghanap ako ng gunting bago ko siya sinaksak sa dibdib," Baring said.
According to Baring, Tran was having a drinking spree with his friend before their alleged squabble transpired.
"Lasing po siya ng dumating ako sa bahay. Sinumbatan po niya ako tungkol sa pagkain," Baring said.
Baring was with other two alleged offenders when he was presented to the local media by Mayor Fracis "Blueboy" Nepomuceno and Angeles Police Chief George Gaddi Friday.
The other two suspects were identified as Anthony Tagle Ferrer, 23, single, of Block 13 Villa Fortbell, Dau, Mabalacat town; and Arnel Masteleno Papauran, 26, single, of Daram, Samar.
Ferrer was charged with Alarm and Scandal, Illegal Discharge of Firearms and Ammunitions, and Violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
Papauran on the other hand was charged with Robbery with Violence and Intimidation, and Violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
Ferrer and Papauran are also detained at the district jail.
