Transco lines maintenance render 8 hour blackout in SF
By Albert B. Lacanlale

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - An eight-hour blackout was experienced by the whole city Thursday as the National Transmission Corporation (Transco) pushed through with the scheduled power lines maintenance.

Only several important government installations were left with power from 8 a.m. to about 5 p.m. with a blackout coming on a humid day.

According to the San Fernando Light and Power Co. (SFELAPCO), the city's electricity provider, the city hall and the Provincial Capitol were among the government establishments supplied with electricity within the scheduled power interruption.

An activity at the Benigno Hall of the Provincial Capitol was, however, delayed for about an hour as electricity was not restored immediately after the shutdown.

Work in both government and private offices were not cancelled due to the blackout.

SFELAPCO said announcement about the blackout has been issued one week in advance.
