CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Central Luzon was adjudged as the "Best Region in Construction" in the entire country for this year.
Recently, DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. conferred the award to DPWH Central Luzon Regional Director Alfredo Tolentino as the Best Region in Construction and second runner-up in maintenance awards.
Tolentino was also awarded as the second Best Regional Director of the year in the country.
In a statement, Tolentino said the awards are the fruits of the DPWH Central Luzon collective efforts, strategies in project implementation, monitoring and the effective utilization of manpower and financial resources.
Tolentino said the recognition was based on the stringent criteria set by the DPWH Technical Awards Committee, which conducted the evaluation and review of the over-all performance of each DPWH regional agency for 2007.
"We are proud to say that Region 3 was the first recipient of these awards after long years. I am also proud that Region 3 is on its way to achieving its top rank for the third consecutive time in terms of project implementation," he said.
Tolentino added that all projects of the region are being completed ahead of schedule.
He also urged his personnel to work harder in support of the national development objectives as envisioned in the 2004-2010 Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP) with focus on meeting the President's 10-point Agenda or specific program of action.
Tolentino also thanked Ebdane for the initiative taking a closer look for the collective performance of every individual of the agency.
