Thursday, December 27, 2007 Archbishop asked on guv's status By Marna H. Dagumboy
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The good government advocacy group Conscience, Inc. has asked San Fernando Archbishop Paciano Aniceto about the status of the priest-turned-governor Eddie Panlilio.
Conscience, Incorporated Chairperson Lolita Hizon asked on an issue, which is both moral and political affecting the office of the governor.
Hizon said as member of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of San Fernando, their advocacy group is convinced that it is time for the archbishop to inform the public on the status of Panlilio.
The group wishes to ask on whether the Law of the Church prohibits clerics to hold public office. They also would like to know if one holds a public office, is one still a priest or is just on leave.
Hizon was one of the well-known supporters of Panlilio during the campaign period. She reportedly supported him because of his promise to fight graft and corruption and promote good governance, transparency and accountability to the people.
