MASANTOL -- The Pampanga Electric Cooperative (Pelco) 3 has vowed to prevent another tragic fluvial procession accident in the future.
"We will be sending our men to fix these lines that cross the Pampanga River so we could avoid other forms of accidents in the near future," said Pelco3 director Che Guevarra.
Guevarra said the primary electric line that crosses the Pampanga River serves six barangays in the area, including Alauli village, which spearheads the annual fluvial parade.
He said one of the measures that Pelco 3 will undertake is the replacement of the old cables with bigger ones.
At present, the cable line's height measures to approximately 15 to 20 feet.
Guevarra said they are planning to elevate the line by 10 feet more.
It was learned that normally, repairs last for three days before Pelco3 people finish the work. In this case, people living along the area will be affected since they will be experiencing a three-day power interruption.
This way, Guevarra said village folk will not experience any power interruption during the ongoing repair and replacement of cables.
Two individuals, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed last Sunday afternoon when the "pagoda" carrying the image of the Virgen La Purisima Concepcion hit the 13, 800 kilovolts primary line of Pelco3 that crosses the Pampanga River.
