CITY SAN FERNANDO -- Starting the year right, the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPO) has reported to the Provincial Government a long list of accomplishments, earning for it praise from Governor Eddie Panlilio.
Pampanga Provincial Police Chief Keith Singian, flanked by different PPO officials and municipal police chiefs, reported to Panlilio last Thursday the different achievements of the PPO for the year 2007.
Singian stressed that the PPO has been efficient in solving crimes, placing the crime resolution at 88 percent with striking contrast from only 83 percent in 2006.
He said this was the result of the intensified anti-criminality campaign of the PPO that focused on checkpoints and revitalized strategies in dealing with criminalities.
"The Pampanga police have also neutralized three of the most notorious syndicated crime groups, the Chito Batu Gang, Baliti Gang and the Tizon Gang," Singian said, adding that the crime solution has been the highest from the years 2004 to 2006.
PPO records revealed that crime volume have been recorded at 710. Crimes against persons like murder and homicide registered 63 percent in 2006 and were reduced to only 57 percent in 2007.
"Our recovery rate for carjacking is at 75 percent. Another is we have coordinated with bank associations in order to negate bank robberies," Singian said, assuring the governor and the media that 2008 would be safe for Pampanga.
Meanwhile, Panlilio who freshly arrived from his Cagayan de Oro trip, lauded Singian for the PPO's accomplishments.
"I am greatly satisfied with their achievements. I urge the PPO to tell us how we could be of help to them," Panlilio said, urging Singian to concentrate more on development trainings and moral recovery programs of the police.
Panlilio also cited the good relationship of the police with the local media, stating that such is a sign of a progressive Philippine National Police (PNP) that is needed in Pampanga.
Singian also renewed his commitment of working closely with the media through information dissemination.
At present, the PPO has 80 police commissioned officers (PCOs) and 909 non-commissioned Officers (NCOs).
Backing up this force are 42 non-uniformed personnel. The PPO has a ratio of one policeman per 1,633 persons, which runs counter to the one policeman per 1,000 population standard ratio.
