Guv's presence at INC worship raises eyebrows

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga Governor Eddie Panlilio has been known to have many surprises under his sleeves. But his latest move -- attending an Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) worship and his alleged "schedule" for indoctrination -- have raised many questions as to his "true calling."

The Panlilio camp, however, was quick to deny this, saying the governor had no intention to shift to another religious group.

A source said Panlilio, a suspended Catholic priest, attended INC worship in the locale of San Fernando this city last January 12.

The source said Panlilio, along with some of his INC allies, attended the worship administered by one of the top ministers of the INC central office in Diliman, Quezon City.

According to the source, the minister snubbed the governor right after he administered the worship. The minister, it was learned did not even talk to the priest-turned-governor and directly boarded his vehicle.

Panlilio, the source added, had allegedly asked about the doctrines and teachings of the INC.

In a text message, Panlilio's chief of staff Archie Reyes confirmed that the governor attended the worship of the INC locale of San Fernando last Saturday.

However, Reyes denied that Panlilio had committed himself to be indoctrinated in the teachings and doctrines of the INC.

It was learned that people who wish to be baptized in the INC must first submit to a formal six-month process. Once someone officially registers with the locale, the person is given the status of candidate for membership (CFM), as they are called within the religious group, and taught the 26 lessons concerning fundamental doctrines of the INC.
