Mikey Arroyo leaves Lakas party
By Marna H. Dagumboy

GUAGUA -- Pampanga second district Representative Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo has filed indefinite leave from the ruling Lakas Christian-Muslim Democrat (Lakas-CMD) party due to "personal reasons."

Arroyo said he would be absent without going into specifics as he submitted his letter to Lakas CMD national executive director Rey Roquero discretely "because there's no big thing" about his filing of an indefinite leave.

He said his leave has nothing to do with the undying rumors about the rift between his mother, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr.

He also denied that his leave was connected with the group of congressmen who reportedly plan to oust de Venecia from the speakership. He added that he does not have plans of joining other parties, including the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi), which was the original party of his mother.

Congressman Arroyo also furthered that he will always be supportive of de Venecia's speakership.
