CAMP OLIVAS -- About 1,429 policemen and policewomen of Police Regional Office (PRO) Central Luzon were promoted to the next higher rank in a simple mass pinning of ranks during the traditional Monday flag raising ceremonies here last Monday.

Of the total 1,429 police personnel, 17 chief inspectors were promoted to superintendents; 27 were promoted to chief inspectors; 27 were promoted to senior inspectors; 10 were promoted to police inspectors; 21 were promoted to senior police officer (SPO) 4; 19 to SPO3; 24 to SPO2; 238 to SPO1 and 1,046 to Police Officer 3.

According to Danilo Bautista, chief of the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division, the mass promotion was based on the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Regular Promotion Program for 2007.

He said of the total figures, 81 were commissioned officers and 1,348 belong to the rank and file.

During the mass pinning of ranks, Chief Superintendent Errol Pan congratulated the newly promoted police officers.

In Pan's message, he emphasized the advocacy of the "mamang pulis" to serve and protect and be servants to the people first and foremost.

He added that it is but fitting to reward police personnel, men and women alike, commissioned or non-commissioned officers for their dedication and loyalty to the police service over and above the call of duty and likewise, imposing punishment, too, to those who will be found guilty of tainting the nobility of the police uniform.

Pan said the 1,429 newly promoted police personnel of PRO 3 is just a small fraction of the more than 20,000 newly promoted police personnel PNP wide; more than 18,000 from the rank and file and the remaining number from inspectors to superintendents.

"In fact, the mass pinning of ranks had been done simultaneously in all the PROs countrywide," he added.

He also reiterated the numbers to call in case of any circumstances namely the Anti-Kotong (0927-515-1515); PNP Text 2920; isumbong mo kay tsip (0917-847-5757); DILG Patrol 117 or email to tsip@pnp.gov.ph
