Lawmaker joins Arroyo in Davos trip

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga Third District Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. has been included in President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's official delegation to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland Tuesday.

Gonzales, a first-term lawmaker, will be joining other members of the House of Representatives and the President's official family for the five-day conference to be attended by heads of states and business leaders from around the world.

The Davos forum is expected to draw 2,500 participants from 88 countries, including 27 heads of state or government, 113 Cabinet members, business, religious and media leaders and heads of non-government organization.

This will be Gonzales third official trip abroad with the Cabalen president, following her official trip to the United Nations (UN) in September and state visit to some European countries in December last year.

"It's an honor to be part of the President's delegation to such a prestigious global meeting that has significant impact on the future of peoples all over the world," Gonzales said.

Gonzales is a member of the president's party, Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi). The President meantime is expected to share experiences with new leaders and thinkers of the world in Davos on a multitude of global challenges, according Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye.

"From day one, the President has made clear the importance of international relations as one of the centerpieces of her government political and economic reform agenda," Bunye said.
