Agri office drums up 'Ibon-Ebon' fest
By Albert B. Lacanlale

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Unit (DA-RFU) Central Luzon here has stepped up promotion for the first ever Ibon Ebon Festival to be held on February 1 and 2 in Candaba town.

For the Kapampangans, "Ibon" means bird, and "Ebon" means egg.

The DA-RFU said spectators expect to see just anything and everything about birds and eggs.

"But that's definitely not it! The Ibon Ebon Festival is more than just Candaba's showcase of different birds and thousands of eggs laid. The two-day event is a lot more exciting with numerous activities lined up," said the DA.

A sure fun performance from famous band, Parokya ni Edgar; a presentation from the youthful Tribung Dumara, the town's very own high school talents; exhibits and trade fair featuring the products of Candaba at the Ms. Earth Park, Mandasig; bird-designed kite flying; and itik race and dress-up-your-itik contest are just some of the must-see and experience happenings in the festival.

To make the trade fair possible, the municipality of Candaba under Mayor Jerry Pelayo has tied up with the DA-RFU to put up booths featuring agriculture products such as varieties of vegetables freshly harvested from the rich lands of the region, and aqua products such as tilapia, hito and dalagang bukid, to name a few.

Open to all nature lovers, the Ibon Ebon Festival is one of the biggest events happening this year not just in Pampanga, but in the whole country as well.

Guests from all over the Philippines and even other countries are expected to witness Candaba's grand celebration. Gracing the festivity are some key officials both from the national and local governments.
