Stehli speaks on "Recovering from Autism"

MALLGOERS will have the rare opportunity to hear internationally acclaimed author and lecturer Annabel Stehli speak on Recovering from Autism on Saturday at Cinema 6 at the SM Mall of Asia.

Scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, the seminar is free and was organized by the SM Supermalls, the Autism Society of the Philippines, Autism Pinoy, the Philippine Association of Behavioral Analysis and STLC to bring awareness about autism and other related conditions.

Stehli, who is the author of the best-selling books like the Sound of a Miracle, Sound of the Falling Snow, and Dancing in the Rain, will be accompanied by her daughter Georgiana Thomas.

Drawing from her experience, Stehli offers inspiration and hope for parents of children with special needs through the Georgiana Institute, which was founded in 1991.

Georgiana was diagnosed as severely autistic at the age of three in 1968.

Stehli will share her experience as she struggled to find a solution to her daughter's situation.

Auditory Integration Training (AIT) was the pivotal intervention in the recovery of Georgiana. It is Annabel, randomly filtered and modulated music therapy developed by French Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, Dr. Guy Berard. Stehli has championed AIT and is credited with establishing the therapy as a researched and validated intervention in America and around the world.

Through this, she has helped many children with autism or at least improved their quality of life because of her advocacy.

Stehli claims that with the approval of the FDA, AIT helps remedy the impairment associated with conditions where hyper acute hearing and/or auditory distortion are part of the diagnosis.

These conditions include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delay (PDD), Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), Dyslexia, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Take this opportunity to be enlightened and informed about our children with special needs, and be inspired by Stehli and her daughter Giorgiana.

"Recovering from Autism" is a joint project of the SM Supermalls, the Autism Society of the Philippines, Autism Pinoy, Philippine Association of Behavioral Analysis (Paba) and STLC.
