Victim's kin mauls Japanese murder suspect

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Japanese national accused of killing his 22-year-old stepson was lynched by relatives of his alleged victim while on his way out of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) building at the Pampanga Provincial Capitol compound here, a court employee said.

Shoji Oemura, 61, who allegedly gunned down Fhercinand Dasig Roy last February 4, was mauled minutes after he walked out of the City Prosecution Office with his lawyer last Thursday.

"Oemura was helpless as relatives (of Roy) attacked him while going out of the building after the preliminary investigation at the office of government prosecutor Felizardo Montero," said the court worker said.

The incident, the employee said, had placed Montero's office in bad light.

Montero, it was learned, immediately asked the officer-on-case who was escorting the family of the victim to submit a report about the incident.

The prosecutor scheduled the next preliminary hearing on April 3 and directed the complainants to submit evidence and affidavits. He also asked Oemura's lawyer to answer the allegations.

Oemura was tagged by witnesses as responsible in the severe beating and shooting to death of Roy at the Masagana Subdivison in Barangay Sindalan here.

The Japanese hurriedly fled on board a Mitsubishi Pajero with license plate TJP-255 after the incident, but voluntarily surrendered to the police after four days. His lawyer accompanied him.

A team of Japanese journalists arrived recently in the country to dig deeper into the case of their compatriot. (MHD)
