'Hold-up' man nabbed

ANGELES CITY -- A suspected hold-up man operating in Balibago area, victimizing several persons, was collared by elements of the Angeles City police after snatching the bags of two women last Maundy Thursday.

The suspect was collared by a police team under the supervision of Angeles City Police Director George Gaddi and Chief Inspector Rene Aspe.

Aspe identified the arrested suspect as Jeffrey Abendan of 190 A. Santos St., Balibago, this city.

The victims, on the other hand, were identified as Irish Villaruel and Christine Villaruel both of Blk.119 Lot 46 32nd St., Bacolor Avenue, Madapdap Resettlement Center in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

While the patrol team was driving along 1st St. in front of Regional Armed Forces Building in Balibago, the two women flagged down the police car and reported that two men who were still fleeing towards Bayanihan Park forcibly snatched their bags.

Seeing one of the women with bruises on her arms, the police team quickly pursued the suspects and, together with park guards, arrested one of the suspects within the vicinity of the Bayanihan Park.

The police team also recovered the bags left by the fleeing suspects.

Recovered from the suspect were Nokia N70 valued at P24,000, a Nokia 1110 worth P3,500, a cell phone headset and controller, and various identification cards.

The other handbag recovered contained Sony Ericson cell phone worth P5,000 and lady's stuff.

The suspect was charged for robbery holdup before the City Prosecutors Office. (Dante M. Fabian)
