ANGELES CITY –- About P460,000 was raised for the Bahay Bata Center in a "Wet and Wild Boxing" event held at the Angeles City Beach Club Hotel here last week.

The Bahay Bata Foundation, Inc. runs the Bahay Bata Center which provides shelter, food and education to deserving streetchildren.

Tuvelo said the charity event was held at the hotel's swimming pool where a boxing ring was put up.

According to Tuvelo, the fund raiser was held with the support of the Rotary Club of Clark Field represented by Mark Smith, San Miguel Corporation, Hong Kong Airways and other sponsors.

She added that in addition to the female boxing bouts, the affair also raised funds through auctions of plane tickets, hotel rooms and other items donated by the sponsors and the proprietors of the ABC Hotel.

According to her, the P460,000 donation was raised from the combined proceeds from ticket sales and the auctions led by Mark Smith.

The championship in the wet and wild female boxing bouts was won by team La Pasha, beating the defending champions, the Blue Nile team. (DMF)
