CAMP OLIVAS -- The Police Regional Office (PRO) 3, through the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Housing Board, has started its housing unit development intended for the police personnel.
This is in line with the pronouncement of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to satisfy the basic needs of every policeman and policewoman in the country, particularly the basic need for shelter and decent housing, as part of the Integrated Transformation Program of the PNP.
In a press statement, PRO-3 Director Errol Pan said the plans of the land development is already at hand in developing the first 100 hectares of the 400 hectares that Arroyo has allocated to Central Luzon policemen as their share in the more or less 1,600-hectare housing project located in San Miguel, Bulacan.
Pan said coordination has been made with PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Jesus Verzosa, who is the chairman of PNP Housing Board in Camp Crame, to fast-track the development of the first 100 hectares of the 400 hectares awarded to the PNP in the region.
Pan said the proposed PNP Housing Project in Bulacan was based on the pronouncement of the President during her speech on the 27th Commencement Exercises of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 2006 on March 29, 2006, wherein she mentioned the 1,600 hectares housing project in San Miguel, Bulacan where she allocated 400 hectares for the military, 400 hectares for the police, 400 hectares for the teachers and 400 hectares for the rest of the government employees.
He said the PNP will takeoff on the proposed housing project and development for the first 100 hectares area as per Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) which was pegged at P100 million as funded from the 2008 General Appropriations Act.
In coordination with the National Housing Authority (NHA), the PNP surveyors are already conducting the relocation, verification and topographic surveys and have come up with budgetary estimate for the development of the 100-hectare portion, Pan added.
He also said that the Department of Public Works Highways (DPWH) district office in Bulacan will construct additional access roads to the site using their own funds and resources.
