Sunday, April 27, 2008 Board pushes for health program approval
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Second District Board Member Edna David is pushing for the approval of the Provincial Government's health program for the benefit of the Kapampangan indigents.
David, who acts as the "fiscalizer" between the executive and legislative department on this particular issue, pushed for the approval of the provisions of health services for the period from January to December 2008.
She said that although the Provincial Government's income on quarry taxes had increased, the Kapampangans are still deprived of social services, particularly the poorest of the poor in both the urban and rural areas.
"The men and women these poor people entrusted with their votes were not put to power to play politics but to bring about changes in their day-to-day lives," David added.
The lady board member further said: "the global perspective for health brings to fore a daunting task and should be addressed in pockets of common efforts, which is attacking the root cause of health problems right at the grassroots."
David also appealed to his colleagues in the legislative department to be more objective in scrutinizing the proposed plans for health programs to come out with the right course of action for the greater good.
However, she urged the executive department to be most "truthful in the details on how these proposed plans would be undertaken, putting the needy Kapampangans in front of us rather that selfish interests." (MHD)
