Tuesday, April 29, 2008 Local ramp models strut their stuff
FRESH, young faces flooded the stage recently at the first Go-See (screening) for male and female ramp models at SM Pampanga’s newest wing.
Each of the 62 hopefuls, required to come in their casual attire and a sprinkling of attitude, patiently awaited their turn as they were measured, weighed and called up on the ramp to show off their catwalk moves in front of a panel of judges.
While some were visibly nervous, most of them moved with the grace and ease of seasoned models -- eliciting cheers and applause not only from the audience, but from the judges as well.
The Go-See served as a search for homegrown talents for a string of fashion shows happening at SM Pampanga’s newest wing, envisioned as the venue for creating a whole new lifestyle for Pampanga fashionistas.
The first of these fashion shows is dubbed “For Your Eyes Only: An Exclusive Fashion Preview,” which will be on May 3, and will feature the latest designs from Triumph, Mossimo Underneath and Red Hot Chili Jeans, and embellished by collections from Biju Terner, Daniel Hechter, Apple & Eve and Get Laud, all of which are found at the mall’s newest wing.
“For Your Eyes Only” will be a fabulous cocktail event that showcases the best of retail fashion, as interpreted by local stylists and artists.
“Kapampangans are inherently fashionable and creative. We are happy that now we have a venue to express that creativity and love for the finer things in life,” remarked artiste par excellance Andy Alviz, creative and production director of Make.A.Change (M.A.C.) Advertising & Events, which handles the over-all staging and production of the fashion shows.
Preparations are now underway for another fashion show in July, which promises to be an even bigger show, and will involve real women models from Pampanga society.
SM Pampanga’s newest wing also houses other well-known brands such as Crocs Footwear, Charles & Keith and People are People.
