CAMP OLIVAS -- A 48-year-old man suspected to be a former member of the New People's Army (NPA) was killed after a lone gun man assaulted him at Sitio 7, Barangay San Agustin in Candaba town.
Chief Inspector Angelito Esteban, Candaba police chief, identified the victim as Enrique dela Peña alias Ka Percy, 48, married, and a resident of Barangay Laquios, Arayat town.
Investigations revealed that Dela Peña was on board a motorcycle in front of his relatives' residence when the gunman alighted from a van and shot him several times using an M-16 rifle.
Witnesses said that the suspect's getaway vehicle headed towards Arayat town.
According to Esteban, Dela Pena was involved in frustrated murder case in Barangay Lourdes, also in Candaba, where a certain JV Lapuz was killed.
Esteban said Dela Peña was a former member of the NPA, which operates in the Fourth District.
Police recovered from the crime scene empty slugs.
The town police are now conducting follow up operations to identify the culprits in the killing.
