CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Third District Board Member JQ Quimabao, together with the provincial agriculturists, recently turned over equipment to farmers in Arayat town.
This is in line with the government's program to improve food production in the province, according to Quiambao.
During a simple ceremony at the Department of Agriculture (DA) provincial office here, Quiambao and Provincial Agriculturist Mario Mangiliman handed over a hand tractor to Romeo Dasalla, a farmer leader in Arayat town.
Mangiliman said the hand tractor donated to Arayat farmers is part of the DA's P20 million funds for farmers in the province.
He added that the provincial agriculture office distributed to farmers modern equipment and "certified seeds."
Mangiliman said that some P5 million were turned over to the farmers in this component city.
Senator Manuel "Lito" Lapid helped facilitate the release of the funds, according to Mangiliman.
"I made a study last year asking P20 million from the national government to assist farmers. Senator Lapid helped us get the funds," he said.
