Monday, May 05, 2008 Court orders arrest of ex-Mexico mayor
MEXICO -- The Second Circuit Municipal Trial Court (MTC) here has ordered the arrest of former Mexico Mayor Ernesto Punzalan for several counts of grave oral defamation.
MTC Judge Lamberto Sagum issued the warrant of arrest last April 11.
The court has set Punzalan's bail for his temporary liberty at P6,000 for each count.
The former mayor has already posted bail.
The charges against Punzalan stemmed from his verbal attacks against his rival, Mayor Teddy Tumang, during the campaign period for the May 2007 elections.
During the campaign period, Punzalan even accused Tumang of offering money to kill the former mayor. (RCG>
