11 dengue cases monitored in Apalit
By Raymond C. Garcia

APALIT -- Dengue is once in this town, particularly in Barangay San Juan.

This was disclosed by Barangay San Juan chairman Roberto Tolentino who reported that 11 individuals in his village have been affected by dengue and are mostly confined at the Jose B. Lingad (JBL) Memorial Regional Hospital in the City of San Fernando.

The patients include Camilla Dantes, Jilean Ann Catherine Roque, Joshua Dantes, Sean Roy dela Cruz, Isabel Serrano, Neil Mar Sigua, Carlo dela Cruz, Barry Louie Banag, Richard Gatmaitan, Ryan Gatmaitan and Quennie Amor Balboa, all from San Juan, here.

Sean Roy is registered as the youngest among the victims at seven years old while Ryan is the eldest at 31, who is still reportedly confined at JBL hospital.

As this developed, the local government unit here led by Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr. and Councilor Elias Mendoza, chairman of the Municipal Council committee on health, ordered an immediate fogging operation in the said barangay.

Mendoza cautioned the people of this town against the disease.

As the dengue cases were reported, he said the Municipal Health Office should determine and trace the source and the whereabouts of the dengue-causing mosquito.

Mendoza, a doctor by profession, said the dengue carriers are daytime mosquitoes or "daytime biter" who usually stay on stagnant water.

Meanwhile, Tolentino sought help from higher authorities, including Pampanga Board Member Ricardo Yabut who, in turn, endorsed the matter to the Provincial Board (PB) committee on health chaired by Board Member Edna David.

On Monday morning, the two board members conducted inspection along the area and at the hospital. They also provided financial assistance to the victims.

David said she would ask her colleagues in the PB to allocate funds for the victims. Yabut supports the proposal of David.
