Lawmaker eyes rehab of Candaba-Sta. Ana road
By Raymond C. Garcia

CANDABA -- It seems commuters who pass through Pansol Road that connects this town and Sta. Ana will soon enjoy the convenience of using a rehabilitated road.

Over the weekend, Pampanga fourth district Representative Ana York Bondoc-Sagum, together with Vice Mayor Ben Gatus and Councilor Andy Gulapa, conducted an ocular inspection in the area.

The lawmaker said the road repair would take effect after the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation of Maasim dike.

A P37-million fund from Rural Road Development Network is expected to be poured into the rehabilitation of 1.2-kilometer road. It will also be elevated by 1.5 meters and widened by 6.1 meters.

Sagum said Pansol Road used to be a mere farm-to-market road but through the initiative of his brother, former congressman Rimpy Bondoc, the road became a national road upon the approval by then public works secretary Gregorio Vigilar.

Moreover, she said the road rehabilitation will help Candaba's economy flourish since products coming from this town can easily be transported to urbanized localities as well as to other areas, regardless of the season.

Meanwhile, Gulapa, chairman of the Municipal Council committee of public works, said the perennial problem in here is flood, which greatly affects the lives and the source of living of the Candabeños.

"This is really a big help for our people both large and medium scale entrepreneurs because they can now easily transport their goods to different places once this project is realized," he said.

He also said local officials here always support any project that will benefit mainly their constituents.

Vice Mayor Gatus said this would benefit mostly students coming from Candaba who have to take alternate routes or have to pay higher fares whenever it rains and whenever the area gets flooded.
