THOSE who saw the fashion show at SM City Pampanga's newest wing (Building 4) could only stare in amazement. Of course, who wouldn't? Standing in front of everyone in a rainy Saturday night were professional and amateur models, strutting their stuff on the catwalk and sporting the newest and prized collections of the best clothing brands of the contemporary generation.
Capitalizing on the success of the first fashion show by Red Hot Chili Jeans, the organizers of "For Your Eyes Only", an exclusive fashion preview, has brought more lines and clothing brands together in a night dazzling display of beauty and fashion.
Kapampangans might as well thank Andy Alviz and Dalsa Hizon for bringing to the province a taste of urban pleasure without the hustle of going to imperial Manila. Good news though for those who were not able to see this fabulous show. Dalsa said that it is but one of a series of shows set for the year. Dalsa and Andy would handle the said shows through their Make A Change (MAC) advertising company.
Last Saturday night's fashion show has brought back Bea Ang, of Red Hot Chili Jeans, now as the lead designer and foremost mover of the fashion show. The audience watched, with mouths agape, at the funky lines of Triumph, Daniel Hechter, Apple and Eve, Bijoux Terner, Get Laud!, Red Hot Chili Jeans and Mossimo Underneath. Mossimo Underneath has the fashion show as its launching step for its undergarment line. One may actually point out that these brands are actually competing brands in some aspects but then again they may actually complement each other in terms of fashion.
Attending this rare event was Pampanga's fashionable class. Though the general observation was that the audience was a bit static and somehow too refined, but I think a couple of more fashion shows bring in the appreciative mood.
It was indeed a fashion show that will serve as a bench mark for future shows, with complete lines of funky outdoors and smart casual clothing.
But the much awaited was the underwear lines. You could actually hear a chorus sigh from the audience as the models bravely sported underwear lines. It was indeed apt that the shows handlers described the event as a "peek at the newest and prized collection of top clothing brands in a celebration of all things chic and beautiful" and please at the word sexy to that.
Though still a bit wet behind the ears, the show was a great success and surely the other scheduled fashion shows would draw in more spectators and probably even other lines from European brands. We need these shows, though not for their escapist pleasure, but rather to remind us that appreciating beauty and fashion should be part of our urbanized living. Fashion as well as beauty comes natural for some but then again for most people, fashion is an acquired taste.
